As with any drug the problem comes down to whether or not people believe it does more harm than good. If it does more harm then it can be prohibited but if it has less harm than good then it can be tolerated by society.

They claim that this goes against their religious rights since the government shouldn’t get in the way of peoples way enlightenment.

There has been much interest in Salvia from not only addicts but researchers, herbalists, and mental health specialists for its anti-addictive pain killer effects. This drug discovered first in Mexico is being considered for treating addictions like cocaine, alcohol,  nicotine, and tobacco addiction. As you can see this drug if used correctly can quite beneficial to society if accepted for its medicinal potential.

Not only can it help in addictions mentioned above but it might be good for the treatment of  disorders characterized by alterations in perception, including schizophrenia, Alzheimer’s disease and bipolar disorder.

Even with all of these potential good uses some argue it is still a harmful and dangerous drug that should not be used at all for any purposes. There is little support by voters to make this a banned drug therefore it is not illegal in the United States.

Researchers are hard at work trying to find medicinal purpose use for the treatment of Depression, Drug Addictions, Stress, Digestion, Insomnia, Schizophrenia, Cancer and many others.
