When will it be available?
As we all know, Windows 7 was officially launched on October 22, 2009, and you can get it through retail and OEM. However, the availability may vary based on computer manufacturer, store, and initial demand. But Windows 7 RC (time-limited pre-release version) is publicly available now.

You can easily upgrade to Windows 7 if your previous OS was Windows Vista and you don’t need to worry about your files, application and setting because the upgrading process will not change that items. Upgrading from Windows 7 Beta/RC might be possible but the process will be slightly different. Unfortunately, for Windows XP users, you really need clean installation of Windows 7 if you want to upgrade your OS.

However, starting from June 26, 2009, buyers of new computers will receive a free upgrade to Windows 7 once the OS becomes available.
